On the 27th July 2025, adventurer and NOC ambassador James Ketchell will set sail from Gosport on a journey ‘Round the World’ as he bids to become the first person to circumnavigate the earth by land, air and sea.

Along the way James will be visiting schools in a number of different continents, educating children about the importance of our ocean and helping them understand what they can do to protect it. James’ journey will cover over thirty thousand nautical miles and will last nearly 10 months, as he travels through a number of major seas. In his support of ocean science James will launch an ARGO float which will contribute to a global ocean data network, and he will collect vital plastics samples to support NOC’s 5-year ocean plastic project with our partners Beyondly.
