Creating Lasting Ocean Impact
Thank you for your interest in the National Oceanography Centre (NOC). Whether your passion is combatting the climate crisis, conservation, exploration, or equipping the next generation of ocean leaders, becoming a member of the NOC Ocean Alliance allows you to have a direct impact on world leading research and innovation.
The ocean holds 97% of Earth’s water and produces over 50% of the oxygen we breathe;
It feeds the world by producing 30% of global protein for 3 billion people every day, and absorbs 93% of the excess heat from greenhouse warming.
The ocean is essential to life on planet earth and yet we are facing a dramatic decline in ocean health, with human activity affecting sea levels, temperature, and the millions of species that call the ocean home.
NOC is one of the world’s top oceanographic institutions. Working in some of the remotest and most hostile parts of the ocean, we bring scientific solutions to the issues that affect our environment, our landscapes, our health and our prosperity.
Since its independence from government in 2019, NOC is now the UK’s leading ocean science charity, and can partner with funders in new ways. The strong commitment, trust and voice of philanthropists like you can enable our scientists to drive discovery and pursue bold new lines of ocean research in ways other funding types cannot. When you make a gift, you will receive regular bespoke updates showing the global impact of your support. You’ll also be invited to our exclusive events, giving you the opportunity to be part of our global network and get up close to our world leading science and innovation.

We look forward to partnering with you to advance our understanding of our changing ocean and address the challenges facing people and our planet.
