I am a physicist (atomic, molecular and optical) with a wide research experience comprising experimental soft condensed matter, optoelectronics (distributed and point sensors), coherent atomic control, quantum technologies, high-power fibre lasers and spectroscopy. At NOC I aim to exploit this skills-set towards developing the next generation of long-range densely distributed intelligent monitoring, visualisation and communications platforms for use in the marine, maritime, glacial and urban environment. With the larger aim of quantifying changes in our planets-environment and associated variables.
I lead the research into design and development of densely distributed fibre optic monitoring embedded with layers of machine learning and artificial intelligence protocols, bespoke to applications in the marine, maritime, urban and glacial environment. In line with this initiative, a jointly supervised PhD position is designed under the MINDS CDT program.
