I am an atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physicist, with a wide research experience comprising experimental soft condensed matter, optoelectronics (distributed and point sensors), high-power fibre lasers, optical-atomic-molecular spectroscopy, coherent atomic control and quantum technologies. At NOC I aim to exploit this skills-set towards developing the next generation of wide-area dense spatio-temporal distributed intelligent monitoring, visualisation and communications platforms for use in the marine, maritime, glacial and urban environment. With the larger aim of quantifying changes in our planets-environment and associated variables.
I lead research in the design and development of intelligent distributed real-time spatio-spectro-temporal monitoring platforms for autonomous sampling, localization, tracking and forecasting of events in diversity of complex environments (e.g., marine, maritime, glacial, and terrestrial) with comprehensive and concomitant evaluation of critical infrastructure (energy/telecommunication cables, renewable turbines, other civil architectures etc.) that exists within such domains. The intelligence component comprises bespoke development of machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms through on-going cross-disciplinary collaborative efforts, with view to efficiently field the analytical requirements on complex, multi-dimensional & multi-parameter big-data. Extensive use of high performance computing is underway with plans to leverage the novel quantum computing capabilities to mitigate combinatorics bottle necks during data-analytics, also under development.
