Ocean Salinity Science and Salinity Remote Sensing Workshop

Some 340 European scientists, policy-makers and other experts, including representatives from the National Oceanography Centre, have agreed a common vision of priorities for marine research and action until 2020.

The head of the National Oceanography Centre, Professor Ed Hill, will be one of the keynote speakers at the eighth international EurOCEAN 2014 conference, which will be setting a sea and ocean research agenda for Europe.

Next week there will be two meetings entitled ‘Arctic sea ice reduction: the evidence, models, and global impacts’, held under the auspices of the Royal Society, organised by Prof Daniel Feltham (U Reading), with Dr Sheldon Bacon (NOC), Dr Mark Brandon (Open University) and Professor (Emeritus) Julian Hunt FRS.

18–21 November 2014 – Early Career Researcher participants workshop on: Marine Science and Technology – promoting UK-Colombian interdisciplinary research collaboration and career opportunities

Under the British Council Researcher Links scheme we will be holding a 4-day workshop on the above theme in Santa Marta, Colombia over 18–21 November 2014.

18-19 September 2014, Church House, Westminster, London. In 2014 RAPID reached 10 years of continuous observations of overturning circulation in the Atlantic Ocean.

The joint UK-US RAPID programme has been making observation of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) since April 2004. To mark this milestone, a day-and-a-half event is being held.

‘Next Generation of Chemical Sensors for Cold Environment’ Masterclass – Wednesday 10 September 2014, 10am–4pm – School of Geographical Sciences, University of Bristol

The workshop is now underway in Lake Constance, Germany – 23–24 October 2014

This Workshop aims at being once again a lively forum for a community-led review of the science and applications of coastal altimetry, from data processing through emerging applications to new technologies.

A free workshop on tidal and wave energy is to be held on 22 July 12:30–17:00 at the University of Liverpool’s Gallery Room at the Foresight Centre on Brownlow Street, L69 3GL.
