A mini boat built by students from King Edward VI School in Southampton has made its maiden voyage from the city on the world-class research ship, RRS Discovery as part of a project coordinated by the National Oceanography Centre (NOC).

Registration for the free online course ‘Ocean Science in Action: Addressing Marine Ecosystems and Food Security in the Western Indian Ocean’ is open now via Future Learn. This Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from the National Oceanography Centre will start again on 29 March.

Young scientists set sail to health check UK waters

The tall ship Pelican of London is circumnavigating the UK on a mission to mentor young scientists and conduct a ‘British ocean health check’.

As part of its scheduled stop at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton yesterday the crew collected a replica sailing ship bucket to help their project.
