Two scientists at the National Oceanography Centre in Liverpool have won prestigious awards from the Challenger Society

The Challenger Society awards four Fellowships biennially, to early career-stage marine scientists who are members of the Challenger Society, for their achievements and promise in a branch of marine sciences: marine biology, marine chemistry, marine geology and marine physics.

Jenny Brown, Liverpool, was awarded the marine physics fellowship at the 2012 Challenger Society conference dinner.

Charlotte Williams, a NOC-University of Liverpool PhD student, won the Norman Heaps prize for best oral presentation by a non-established scientist (talk title was Wind-driven nutrient fluxes in shelf seas).
