As the providers of the UK Delegation to the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC-UNESCO), the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) would like to congratulate Professor Gideon Henderson on his appointment as a member of the first UN Ocean Decade Advisory Board.

The Board, which includes 15 expert members drawn from government, private sector, philanthropy, civil society, and the scientific community, will have a critical role in providing strategic advice on the implementation of the Ocean Decade. Prof Henderson’s nomination was supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and demonstrates the UK’s commitment to enabling a successful Ocean Decade, alongside the UK’s commitment to the G7 Ocean Decade Navigation Plan.
