Liverpool Marine Symposium 2016

Thursday, 28 January 2016 –

Presentations are invited from scientists at the NOC and Liverpool Universities that relate to one of the three key themes

This year’s symposium will consist of talks under the following themes:

  • Physical and biogeochemical controls on coastal and shelf sea systems
  • Understanding distributions and variation in marine species and assemblages
  • Human interactions in marine ecosystems (the socio-ecological system)

Liverpool Marine Symposium 2016

This year we want to see the full diversity of science undertaken in Liverpool on marine systems represent-ed. We encourage input from the National Oceanography Centre, the University of Liverpool, and John Moore’s University. Before submitting an abstract, we request that all participants consider whether their contribution will be accessible to all the disciplines that could be represented (e.g. oceanography, biology, ecology, civic design, engineering, social science). We ask that authors specifically address the following in their presentations: “What are the key questions explored?”, “How do you approach them?”, “How does this work improve our understanding of marine ecosystems and why is this important?”. Where the work presented comprises some multidisciplinary aspects, we also encourage speakers to discuss in what ways they think this benefits their science and its impact.

The meeting will take place in the Foresight Centre, on Thursday 28 January 2016. This will consist of a series of short (15-min) talks together with posters, and each session will be introduced by a keynote talk.

Please submit your abstract for an oral or poster presentation by noon on Friday 8th January. Register your interest in attending whether or not you wish to make a presentation, as soon as possible, by email to jingbo.he@noc.ac.uk. Venue: Foresight Centre, Brownlow Street, Liverpool, L69 3GL

Date: Thursday 28 January 2016, 09:00-16:30

Organisers: Lucy Bricheno, Leonie Robinson, Judith Wolf, and Kevin Horsburgh

Meeting is free to attend. Coffee, tea and lunch will be provided.
