Into the blue Manchester

NERC are bringing their science to the North West in a series of events during October.

We live and breathe science. From the air in our lungs to whether of not it rains today, environmental science explains much of what happens to us. Did you know that air quality matters to your health? Or that the sea provides more vital resources than simply a tasty dinner?

The NOC, as a NERC funded research centre, is showcasing our world leading marine science and technology at both events. Tickets now available for RRS Discovery in Liverpool and Into the blue Manchester.

Into the blue will bring alive the world of environmental science and research by immersing visitors in a hands-on science exhibition at the Runway Visitor Park - external link at Manchester Airport. Enter into a world of science, find out about the sea and the sky, and experience the the best of the UK's environmental science research and the cutting-edge technology that is used to measure and monitor our environment.

The four themes of the event are - water, air, energy and health.

Some lucky visitors will be able to go on board and experience the UK's most advanced research aircraft, to ask questions of real scientists and Into the blue Manchester interact with a range of exhibits from all of NERC's centres.

Visitors will be able to ask and get answers to questions like “why is the sky blue?”, “why is the sea salty?”, “how do clouds know when to rain?” and “what does it feel like to fly through a storm?”

Tickets now available for RRS Discovery in Liverpool and Into the blue Manchester.
