I am a marine seismologist at the National Oceanography Centre, specialising in the use of seismic and seismoacoustic methods to study the structure and evolution of the oceanic and continental lithosphere, cryosphere, and water column environments. Ocean-bottom seismology is the core of my research, including the deployment, processing, and interpretation of data from ocean-bottom seismometers (OBS) in a range of tectonic and environmental settings. My work also includes ship-based multichannel seismic surveys and deployments with ROV-mounted seismic sources, supported by numerical modelling of seismic and acoustic wave propagation using both full waveform and ray-based approaches. I am also expanding my expertise into electromagnetic methods to complement seismic imaging in complex geological settings.
I have led and contributed to multidisciplinary projects focused on plate boundary evolution and oceanic crustal processes, marine mineral resources, carbon capture and storage, geohazards, and ocean noise pollution, in various offshore settings, including high-latitude and deep-ocean regions. My research is strongly interdisciplinary, linking Earth sciences and engineering innovation to address key questions relevant to marine geohazards, Arctic climate variability, ocean sustainability, and technological innovation. Through this work, I contribute across the full breadth of NOC's missions.
