I am a physical oceanographer with interest in modelling the entire temporal spectrum, encompassing the past, present, and future dynamics of physical ocean systems. My research to date primarily involves coastal ocean modelling, hydro-environmental research, and tidal energy development with a particular emphasis on tidal range energy schemes.
Research Interests:
- Ocean numerical modelling, from estuarine, coast to shelf.
- Risks and impacts of climate change and direct anthropogenic drivers on the coastal ocean physics and the implications for biogeochemistry and ecosystems.
- Marine renewable energy development, especially tidal range energy scheme, involves resource evaluation, hydro-environmental impact assessment, and schemes optimisation.
Roles:
2024 - Present | National Oceanography Centre | Research Scientist
2022 - 2024 | Cardiff University, Engineering School | PDRA
2022 - 2022 | Bangor University, Ocean Sciences School | PDRA
2017 - 2022 | Cardiff University, Engineering School | PhD
Ongoing projects:
Future states of the global coastal ocean: Understanding for Solutions (FOCUS)
Completed projects:
- New generation of modelling software for extreme floods
- The Marine Energy Engineering Centre of Excellence (MEECE)
- Milankovitch cycles and tidal history (MATCH)
- Promoting Energy-Water nexus resource efficiency through renewable energy and energy efficiency (EERES4WATER)
