Adrien Martin has over 10 years of experience in microwave ocean remote sensing. He received a Ph.D. in Ocean Remote Sensing from Pierre & Marie Curie (Sorbonne) University in Paris in 2013, and earned an Engineering degree in Telecommunication from Telecom Bretagne (now IMT Atlantique) in France.
His main scientific interests concern development and exploitation of:
- remote sensing Doppler oceanography for direct measurements of ocean surface current, wind and waves with Copernicus Sentinel-1 SAR, European Space Agency (ESA) airborne OSCAR system and the Seastar mission concept candidates for ESA Earth Explorer
- Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) from L-band radiometers like SMOS, Aquarius and SMAP satellite missions
Senior Research Scientist, NOC Satellite Oceanography
- ESA Climate Change Initiative for Sea Surface Salinity: Validation team leader
- ESA OSCAR airborne project for measuring ocean wind and current: Science PI
Former member of:
- European Space Agency (ESA) Pi-MEP SMOS Science Advisory Group
- ESA Earth Explorer 9 candidate SKIM Mission Advisory Group
