Angela is Head of NOC’s Sea Level and Ocean Climate subgroup. She is a Sea Level and Tidal Scientist with expertise in the management and operational use of sea level monitoring technology and the scientific applications of sea level data. She drives improvements to resilience to coastal hazards via the use of monitoring technology and through improved predictability of tides and extreme events. She is a keen exponent of capacity building in developing economies and has been instrumental in delivering technology and scientific training solutions within the Caribbean and Africa. Angela explores sea level and bottom pressure variability on all timescales, from high frequency seiching to the long-term trends that are associated with Climate Change. She has an interest in the interactions that occur between modes of variability in the atmosphere and ocean, particularly in polar regions. She researches the complementary nature of sea level observations from satellites and tide gauges.

Angela is the NOC delegate to EuroGOOS and co-chairs the EuroGOOS Tide Gauge Task Team. She is the UK Tsunami National Contact for the IOC's North East Atlantic and Mediterranean Tsunami Warning System (NEAMTWS) and the Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Tsunami and Other Coastal Hazards Warning System for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (ICG/CARIBE-EWS).
Angela is Principle Investigator for the South Atlantic Tide Gauge Network, the UK Tide Gauge Prototype Project and is a work package leader for the Horizon Europe EuroSea Project.
