Parameterisation and interpretation of the air-sea turbulent fluxes of momentum, sensible heat, latent heat and CO2. Direct flux measurement using the inertial dissipation and the eddy correlation (covariance) methods. Investigation of the dependence of the surface fluxes on mean parameters such as wind speed and sea state. Quantification of the biases in ship-based flux and mean meteorological measurements caused by flow distortion over of the ship.  Winner of the 2010 IMarEST Denny Medal.

Recently (2018) - conceived the novel WireWall system to measure speed and volume of coastal overtopping on a wave-by-wave basis.
