Our theme for today will the use of digital in the coastal ocean environment. We will have two 20 min talks from Stephen Hallett (Cranfield University) and Tom Gardner (British Oceanographic Data Centre).
We’ll kick off with Steve who will talk about “Data-driven Innovations in Coastal Resilience Assessment: an East Anglian perspective”.
Steve works at Cranfield University and is one of the NERC ‘Digital Environment Champions’ helping to lead the ‘Constructing a Digital Environment programme’ (see https://digitalenvironment.org). Steve is speaking about recent research on coastal resilience management in East Anglia.
Tom will then continue with a presentation on “what’s, why’s and how’s on APIS, mircoservice, and Hackathons”.
Tom champions mircoservices and API development within BODC. His interests are in breaking down software into its smallest practical parts and building new “complex” systems. Today he’ll be talking about building APIs using mircroservices and his experience with Hackathons.
