Coastal flood : toward local hazard assessment, forecast and projections

Wednesday 20 March 2019 - 14:00 to 15:00
NOC Liverpool - Nicholson Lecture Theatre (University of Liverpool).
Dr Déborah Idier (BRGM - Orléans, France)

Coastal flood  are driven by many factors amongst which tide, atmospheric storm surge, waves, sea-level rise. These factors and their interactions will be discussed.

The overall methodology for coastal flood hazard assessment and forecast will be introduced. Using the SWASH model in a macro-tidal environment and on a site subject to overtopping, we will highlight the flood sensitivity to the stochastic character of waves. We will also introduce the use of metamodels for coastal flood application, within bottom approaches. A focus will be done on the ANR RISCOPE project.
