Biogeochemical cycling in Greenlandic fjords

Arctic ice is melting at an accelerating rate, but we don’t understand the impact this glacial retreat will have on nutrient cycling in biologically productive fjords, coastal waters, or shelf seas. Glaciated environments are highly variable in space and time - both seasonally and between years - adding to the challenge of quantifying future change in nutrient supplies.

This project uses cutting-edge technologies to investigate seasonal variations in the biogeochemical cycling in glaciated fjords. The research will provide new insight into a highly sensitive system, help build and develop collaborations in the UK and internationally, and support early career researchers.
