The National Oceanography Centre has lent its expertise to the creation of a fictitious story where rising sea levels due to climate change, and the equinox brings a massive flood to one of the highest areas of the country.
The UK Marine Autonomous Systems Regulatory Working Group (MASRWG) is organising this conference to develop and promote a UK Code of Practice in collaboration with the international maritime community.

Oxygen minimum zones form in a few special regions of the ocean due to the confluence of high productivity waters (usually fed by upwelling) and slow midwater ventilation. In these regions, depth intervals several hundred metres thick are completely devoid of oxygen.
