Satellite Oceanography subgroup

With their near-global coverage, satellites provide a unique view of the surface properties of the ocean. The Satellite Oceanography subgroup is concerned with measuring exchanges between the atmosphere, ocean, and the marine biosphere in order to better predict the response of the marine system to climate change.

The group contributes to developing and sustaining cost-effective observations of the global and coastal ocean so as to deliver state-of-the-art operational oceanography and environmental monitoring. This team engages and collaborates widely with space agencies and the space sector internationally, and its activities drive forward the development of sensors and satellite missions relevant to NERC marine science.
