Ocean and Earth Science graduating students receive their degrees

New graduates celebrate their success

It’s great to celebrate the achievements of our students.

On 26 July, 160 Ocean and Earth Science graduates received their degrees from the University of Southampton.

Graduation is the highlight of the academic year and a tribute to the hard work of students during their time at Southampton. It is also a time for students to express their thanks to their families and to the staff who have supported them through their endeavours.

After receiving their hard-won degrees, over 400 new graduates, parents, families and friends joined Ocean and Earth Science academics and staff at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, to celebrate their success and to recognise the achievements prize winners.

The University of Southampton has an excellent reputation in Ocean and Earth Science, which is based at the Centre. Students experience a relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere, and enjoy a stimulating environment in which to learn essential scientific skills and prepare themselves for employment.

Professor Tim Minshull, Head of the School of Ocean and Earth Science says: “It’s great to celebrate the achievements of our students. Today is a time to reflect on the academic and personal achievements made during their time at Southampton, and to look forward to their futures. Congratulations to all those graduating today!”

The 2011 Ocean and Earth Science graduates join a Southampton alumni community that is 160,000 strong and spans the globe. Alumni are encouraged to stay connected and to continue their involvement with the University.
