Challenger Conference for Marine Science – 6 to 9 September 2010
Climate change topic of keynote marine science talk.
The impact of climate change on humans is the subject of a lecture that forms the centerpiece of a key conference on the challenges facing the ocean environment.
The 14th Biennial Challenger Conference for Marine Science, which takes place at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton from 6th to 9th September 2010 will be addressed by Professor Mike Hulme of the University of East Anglia, who will give a topical public lecture entitled So What Does Climate Change Mean for You?
Mike is one of the world’s top climate scientists and his work explores the idea of climate change using historical, cultural and scientific analyses, seeking to illuminate the numerous ways in which climate change is deployed in public and political discourse.
Organised under the title `Ocean Challenges in the 21st Century’ the Challenger Conference offers parallel sessions on subjects including geo-engineering, the polar oceans, monitoring sea level, emerging technologies, sustained observations and understanding and responding to risks from marine environmental change.
