Project Manager (Permanent, Full Time)
Estates, Corporate and Business Support, National Oceanography Centre (NOC), Southampton
About the role:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join our Estates team. The Project Manager will report direct to the Head of Estates and will play a key role in supporting the effective and efficient delivery of Estates services at NOC sites in Southampton and Liverpool, totalling in excess of 50,000m², with an annual budget of approximately £7m.
The post holder will be responsible for managing construction projects, capital, revenue and long term maintenance projects, of varying sizes and complexity, totalling circa £3m per year, across the NOC estate, in order to achieve high levels of efficiency, functionality, safety, engineering and architectural quality and to ensure that statutory compliance is achieved.
This is a permanent position offered on NERC terms and conditions. The post will be based in Southampton, however there be a requirement to travel to other NOC sites on occasion.
This is a Band 5 position and the salary band will be £35,222 to £42,909 per annum, depending upon skills and experience.
Hours of Work:
The hours of working are full time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Occasional out of hours attendance will be required to deal with planned work or emergencies that arise.
You will have an appropriate degree or other relevant industry qualification, together with an excellent technical background and an understanding of Mechanical and Electrical services. You will have significant relevant project management experience of multi-disciplinary teams in complex environments(including cost estimation, financial monitoring, project budget control, value engineering and risk management) and you will have a clear understanding of the importance of maintaining accurate and up to date project information. Relevant experience within a similar public sector organisation would be desirable.
You will be highly organised and proactive with a proven track record of managing, leading and engaging with key stakeholders in a similar role and be able to communicate fluently and persuasively. IT skills in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) are essential.
