Working at NOC
The Natural Environment Research Council employs around 540 people at the National Oceanography Centre sites in Southampton and Liverpool. Most of our staff are scientists, engineers and technologists who carry out world-leading research, or develop the machines and run the ships that help us understand the ocean environment.
They are supported by a range of staff working in areas as diverse as finance, HR, facilities management and communications.
Both NOC sites are embedded in university campuses and are part of dynamic learning environments where graduate students carry out research alongside some of the leading scientists in their field, for example the Graduate School of the National Oceanography Centre Southampton

The UK continues to be a member of the EU and will be so until the negotiation on a UK exit is agreed. The NOC anticipates that all EU citizens in the UK and those coming to the UK for work during the negotiation period will continue to have working residence status in the longer term though this will ultimately be decided by UK Government policy.
